Healthy Moms

I am a freelance writer and blogger. As a mother of three children I know how important health and parenting are to families. My blog is designed to discuss these issues with other mothers. I am very passionate about sharing information and learning from others. I also enjoy networking with parents who are concerned about the same issues as me. I use the internet and my blog as a tool to network and meet other moms and dads who are concerned about their children and health issues.

I started Healthy Moms in the summer of 2007 when I was pregnant and on bed rest with my third child. At first it was just a hobby but today it is turning into a business.

My blog is mostly about health and parenting but I also discuss family issues such as budgeting, shopping, divorce, marriage, and every day life in my own family. Every weekend I have a post titled, “Weekend Reflection.” I use these posts to update my readers on what is going on with my children, how they are developing and other issues that they might relate to. I also invite my readers to comment on how their past week went and leave links to their blogs or websites. I also have contests every once in a while. I try to make my blog informative as well as interesting and entertaining. I am also constantly looking for fresh material and new authors.

My favorite blogs are Five Minutes for Mom, A Toast to Parenthood, Mother Wise Cracks, Parent Life and Parent Hacks.

Be persistant. At first I didn’t have a lot of readers and it frusterated me but the more posts that I made the more comment I recieved and the more my reader count went up. Don’t worry your blog will take off if you keep at it. Don’t give up. Make sure you post every day and ping your blog after each post.

I love to read the comments on my blog and sometimes I visit the blogs written by the people that leave comments. I haven’t actually chatted with my readers yet but I welcome the idea.

None of them are reading my blog yet although I did tell my friends and family about the blog.

I am not a regular visitor of forums.

I usually post to my blog early in the morning at my home computer while I am drinking my morning coffee. 0

Before we moved (Feb. 2008) I spent about 20 hours a week on my blog and reading other people’s blogs. Today I am still busy unpacking and settling down here so I have cut it down to about 10 hours a week. I am hoping to get back into my old routine soon.

I am a regular member of Technorati. That is the best site to find blogs and bloggers who are discussing the same information that I do. I use that to link to other people’s blogs and find posts to read and comment on.

I’ve known about blogging for some time. I just didn’t know how much fun it would be until recently. I don’t know how I found out about it. Probably from reading something on the internet years ago.

That is a good question. It was probably either Five Minutes for Mom or Parent Hacks. I remember I was doing a search on Technorati for parenting blogs when I came accross those two.

Other parent bloggers and ezine article and go article authors. I read parenting blogs all the time and articles on ezinearticles.com and goarticles.com. I also use those sites for information to add to my blog. I also find inspiration reading books and magazines on parenting, pregnancy and health.

I started another blog a few months ago titled Musings of a Broke Mom. But I don’t know when or if I will update it.

I have learned that I really enjoy writing and am able to reach people with similar interests as me through my blog. I also learned that it can be very rewarding to share information with others. Five Minutes for Mom has encouraged me to continue blogging. I haven’t been challenged as of yet. I think I finally found my own style and am comfortable with how my blog is going.
