Interview with “Salsa Mom”
“Salsa Mom”

After my father passed away in Oct 2009, my grief was overwhelming. Although craziness has pretty much always been a part of having a large family, I was finding it a struggle to just deal with even the little things day to day. I don’t know where I got the “idea” but I took my journal to the web and made it a blog. It really allowed me to laugh at myself in a way I hadn’t experienced in a long time. I started blogging in December 2009.

My family, my friends, my life in general. I couldn’t constantly call my friends to “VENT” or share funny things that were going on. I wanted my blog to just be a place where the “girls” could hang out and talk, almost like when we have a girl’s night or BUNCO.

Oh JEEZ, there are sooo many wonderful blogs, some of my favorites, The Unknown Mami, Me So Hongry, Beauty from Ashes, Fighting off Frumy, CA girl….. these are just a few off the top of my head, but I could go on and on!!!

I still consider myself a newbie and trying to navigate through this blogging thing. I guess I would say, stay true to why you decided to blog and DO NOT be afraid to be yourself. My very favorite blogs are much different from most of the blogs you find. Almost copies of others, so be yourself, there is no one else just like you.

Yes, I love it! Although I have to admit, I am busy that it is hard to keep up.

Ummmm, sometimes, most of my offline friends and family claim they are internet illiterates…. and only go online very limited.

No, not usually…. again, crazy busy life!

I blog at home, usually after I drop the kids off at school OR after everyone is in bed, even my husband. Otherwise it’s too distracting.

You know, I write my blog post for as long as it takes me to get everything out. Reading blogs… I don’t know, I usually try to read and comment everyone who visits, comments, and all new followers. Then I go to my regulars… my favorites. Couldn’t tell you how long it takes, I do it sporadically in between home, kid and school errands and must do’s.

Being a rookie… I have never heard of Technorati (UH GASP!) but you better beleive I will be checking it out today! I love SITS and I recently started using Stumble upon, I still don’t “get it” but I am trying. I also use Blogs by Latinas and Top Mommy Blogs.

You know… I have no idea……LOL!

I don’t remember, I just googled Mom Blogs and looked at what came up. I must not have liked it that much or I would have remembered!

My kids, my husband and God. I will admit, alot of time, just my plain foolishness!

Nope. One is enough.

It has a created a freedom and a release like I have never known. I have always loved to write, sing, dance, just be expessive in one way or another, but this gives me an outlet to do it everyday. I have been encouraged by other blogs because it has allowed me to see I am not alone, as much as we are different we ALL still have so much in common. I have made wonderful blogging friends and all these women in the blogging community have been so encouraging. I thought just my friends and family “might” read it, but I have made wonderful friends from all over the country. That is what has touched me most.
