Interview with “Lisa Newton”

I enjoy saving money and sharing the deals I find. The savings really adds up. I was initially shocked by the amount of money I was saving using the internet. I find it unnecessary to pay full price for anything, when you can do a little research and save quite a chunk of money off of most any purchase.
I don’t always follow the “it must be on sale” rule. If there is something I really want and I have done enough research to know that the price is firm, I do treat myself now and then and just save money elsewhere.

I started blogging in February 2009 several months after I lost my job of 18 years. I spent the first few months after losing my job scouring the internet and was amazed at the deals I was finding. Before long, I was sharing the savings with family and friends and decided to put all of the information I use on a blog for easier access.

I usually blog about living a more frugal life. I live a good life and enjoy nice things. Most of my blogging is about finding great deals on groceries, travel, and shopping.
I also blog about eating healthy, my issues with sulfites, eating healthier for less money, organic food finds, retail deals and I do product reviews as well. I have written a number of reviews on products I have purchased myself without any outside influence.

Several months ago, I posted an article on my blog with a lot of helpful tips and links in creating a blog. I wish I had this information all in one place at the time I was creating my site. I spent months and months digging and learning about html, posting, reader hits, etc.
I took all of my notes and put them in one post for my future reference as well as reference for anyone starting a blog.
There are links to great sites that will help in setting up a blog as well as sites to visit to help with widgets and setup. It can be found here with several posts, i.e. “Successful Blogging Tips”

I enjoy getting comments and responding. Bloggers enjoy knowing there are readers out there that actually enjoy their site and find useful information.
Feedback is essential. I encourage people to either email or leave a comment and I will get back with them.

Yes many of them do. I started the blog so when I shared my tips on saving, we would have all the information at our finger tips in one place.

Yes, there are several forums that I stop by and visit once in a while. Two that come to mind are:

I blog from my home.

The time I spend on my blog varies. Lately I have not had as much time to blog but I do sit down every day and check it and try to make at least a post or two.
It is the emails I receive that are overwhelming and it takes time to weed through them. Many from other bloggers, comments, affiliates sharing deals and product review requests.
I am registered with many sites that send products for honest reviews and I enjoy trying the product and sharing my honest feedback.

Occasionally but you can really get lost on the internet and it is important to stay focused. There is so much information available. I do enjoy finding new sites to share with readers.

I stumbled upon it on the internet while searching for coupons one day.
I always do a quick search and print coupons to area stores before I go out shopping. It only takes one minute and you could end up saving 15-30% off of an item. It is worth the minute.

Saving money and helping others in their quest to save money during the downturn in our economy.
There are some really savvy couponers out there that really do purchase $250 worth of groceries for $25 and it is all because of the shared knowledge available on the internet.
I am very thankful for all that I have and know that so many more folks are struggling to keep their home and put food on their table. Many people depend on grocery match ups to help reduce their expenses by 50-75%. If my site helps someone learn a little about cutting expenses, then I am happy.

Not at this time.

Blogging has provided an outlet for me after I was let go from a job of 18 years. I decided to not return to the working world and stay home. Not only have I learned a lot about blogging, I have learned a good bit about setting up a blog and webpage on my own and with the help of some blogging books as well as other bloggers.
I constantly enjoy learning something new and setting up this blog has really challenged me.
I have also met some wonderful savvy, frugal friends from all over the country and we have shared savings tips, recipes, and even family stories.
