Preschool Playbook

I blog to share ideas with parents of young children and new teachers. I also continue to blog as I have found so many sites that have inspired me to become a better person and better teacher.

I began blogging in April of 2008. My husband and a friend were starting a blog and I thought it looked fun. I never knew it could be so addicting.

I normally blog about the activities I do with the children during the course of our day at school. When school is not in session I blog about fun crafts that parents might like to do with their children.

I have to say some of my favorite blogs are those of homeschoolers and other preschool teachers. I have found that these people have been able to help light a little fire under me and made me a better teacher and parent. My blog roll is pretty long, and can get longer everday, but here are a few I get some great ideas from:

http://raisingcreativeandcuriouskids.blogspot.com/
http://michellesjournalcorner.blogspot.com/
http://lettersnumbersandbooksohmy.blogspot.com/
http://www.notimeforflashcards.com/

My list could go on and on.

Persistence. I have had a few times when I thought I couldn’t keep up, or got discouraged because other’s sites just seemed so much better. Also, I’m not that technical. But, I kept at it and I love meeting new “friends” everyday.

I LOVE getting comments. It is so fun and uplifting to know that people find your ideas useful. I am alwasy sure to try and comment on others sites as I know how much I enjoy reading comments to me.

My niece, who is a junior in college, to become an elementary teacher, is a regular reader.

I blog in front of the TV during the 9:00-11:00 pm time slots. (I like the TV for background noise.) My children are in bed and I can usually finish a post without an interruption.

I usually spend about an hour an evening catching up on other people’s posts. When I post that usually takes me about another hour if I have pictures. If it’s a quick shot, I can be done is a few minutes.

Homeschoolers inspire me to no end. I love their commitment to education. I love their commitment to their families. And, I love their energy and ideas they come up with.

I have learned that I am a pretty good teacher and my ideas aren’t all that bad. I have learned that I can ALWAYS learn more. I have learned that there are SO many others out there willing to share, help out, and give some words of encouragement when they are needed.
