Mom's Fortress of Solitude

Writing is my passion! I utilize this skill as a means to inspire and counsel others, express my opinions, and put a voice to the thoughts and questions that clutter my mind on a daily basis.

Satirical humor, particularly sarcasm, have and always will be my coping mechanism. My kids tell me I have this twisted ability to make even the most serious of situations funny.

What can I say? It’s just the wicked way my mind reacts to every day stress, and definitely not meant to offend.

Some say that laughter is the best medicine. I say, “Bring it on! Laughter is free, and I am on a very strict budget!”

My writing encompasses my experiences in life thus far, both negative and positive. My ultimate goal with writing is to use these experiences to inspire others . . . to openly disclose my personal experiences with subjects such as domestic violence, parenting special needs children, single parenthood, military life, depression, teen suicide, as well as several other indigenous encounters.

Through trials such as those previous stated, I have gathered a wide variety of resources. I have learned to make negative situations into positive inspiration by means leading others in the direction necessary to overcome.

If everyone in this world would take the time to help just one person find their way, just imagine who quickly these efforts would grow. I truly believe that one person CAN make a difference in this world. If I encourage just one person through my writing, the domino effect will take over and positive change will spread like wildfire.

I started blogging online last year, and I have loved every minute of it.

Before then, I would journal online privately. I like writing in the blogging realm so much better due to all the new friends I have made in this short period of time.

I normally blog about my life as a military wife and mother to special needs children, my kids and everything that goes along with having children.

I blog about my other (not better . . . lol) half, humorous rants, as well as other things that interest or inspire me.

Inspiration and laughter is the name of the game here.

Hmmmmm . . . some? You mean you don’t want my entire list of over 1,000 blogs I follow?

Oh my Heavens! I definitely have tons of advice for blogging newbies!

1. Sign up for every social site imaginable and link your blog to them.

2. Promote, promote, promote! Did I say promote?

3. Read a ton of other blogs out there, and comment on them. You’ll make a ton of new friends this way.

I’ve been known to do so on many occasions. However, if it’s something that does not apply to their post or mine, I’ll take it to email or IM.

All of my friends and family members are subscribed via email.

I blog after all those under 30 go to bed on the family room computer. My laptop need a new battery, so I have to share with the kids for now. :o (

I’d say at the very least, I spend around 15-20 hours per week reading blogs and writing in my own.

I use several. Let’s see:

Blog Catalog
Bloglines
Her Blog Directory
Facebook

Wow! I don’t even remember how I first heard about blogging.

I probably stumbled across someone’s blog while researching for an article I wrote way back when.

Thus, began the addiction.

To tell you the truth, I have no clue.

I am inspired by many people who make their life’s mission to make this world a better place in which to live.

I am inspired by those who have overcome the challenging obstacles in their lives, yet go back to the beginning of the path they walked simply to show others the way.

Well, these are not officially my websites, but I do have more writing homes around the web.

Blogging has had a tremendous positive affect on my life.

I have had an outlet to vent when life throws me a curve ball, as well as the opportunity to connect with others who have confirmed these frustrations and offered their advice.

I have also had the chance to inspire others through my experience; to make someone’s day by sparking gut-wrenching laughter through my words. I LOVE it!

The blogosphere is full of people who inspire and challenge me to be a better person. I’m so very thankful to be given the opportunity to meet these encouraging souls. I feel a strong connection with my fellow bloggers, even though we have never met face-to-face.
