Interview with Lisa from “Oh Boy. Oh Boy. Oh Boy.”

I started blogging as a way to share what was going on in our life with our extended family but its slowly evolved into a combination of an online journal/scrapbook and a therapeutic outlet.

I have been blogging for a little over a year (4/2008).

I blog mostly about our family and everything related to my kids and being a mom.

I have several small blogs written by friends of mine that I read daily. I regularly read http://www.becauseisaidso.com and mycharmingkids.net and then have a list of over 200 in my reader that I read when a title really strikes me and I hve time.

Just start! Really that’s the hardest part. Most people I’ve talked to think that its pointless for them to start blogging because “who would want to read what they have to say” and I get that. But once you start, it’s so amazing to become part of the blogging community.

I don’t really chat IN my comments because I don’t know that people go back and read them. But I reply to comments when I get them from people who have open emails so that I can just email them back. And if someone asks a relevant question in the comments I will usually address is in a new post.

Yes I actually started it for my family so I had sent out the link and then added it to my email signature. But no one really read it. Then it started evolving into a true blog and I started doing “bloggy” type things and would be slightly surprised when a family member would mention something on my blog. I got to the point where I became SO real that I was almost uncomfortable thinking about my family reading it but recently I’ve started sharing the link again and really like their feedback.

I blog almost daily and sometimes from work and sometimes at night after the kids have gone to bed.

It varies greatly some days just minutes and some hours upon hours but mostly 3 hours I’d guess would be a close average.

No

Online friends would talk about blogs they read.

I read Dawn from becauseisaidso.com before she was big because I knew her and I think that was the first I ever read.

Everything. And very random things. But my kids are my single biggest regular inspiration.

I have a site for my photography at http://www.lisanoelphotography.com

I have found new friendships and encouragement through my blog. It also challenges me sometimes. Once I put things down in writing it makes me more likely to follow through….sometimes :)
