Mammatalk

Free therapy!

I started my blog on September 1, 2008

Mammatalk is about girl talk for Mammas! Current and future mammas need apply. My mantra is “laughter while parenting”. Afterall, laughter is a parent’s survival guide. I have found inserting humor into a mom’s daily grind has been both therapeutic and rewarding.

I became hooked on Her Bad Mother. However, I have found so many other bloggers that are so enormously talented. I have grown to love crafter blogs, infertility blogs, cooking blogs etc..But, the closest to my heart are those amazing writers out there. Wyliekat, Scary Mommy, Motherscribe, Crazyadventureinparenting, interstitial-life, adlibby-on-the-loose…so many more!

I would advise a new blogger to get listed with networking sites, visit other blogs and comment.

Most importantly, blog about what you are passionate about whether that is knitting or writing. Your passion will be apparent to readers. I have been pulled into blogs I never thought I would be. I mean, come on? Infertility blogs? The stork keeps banging down my door. But, because of the passion in the writing, I visit again and again.

My family knows I blog, but they also know they are fobidden from reading. “It’s girl talk. No boys allowed!” I tell my 3 brothers. A few offline friends do read me and have been most encouraging.

I do some blogging daily sneaking in a moment here or there. I handwrite most of my posts in a notebook often on the floor sprawled out among the baby dolls and Play Doh tea party. This way, I can juggle my princess teacup on my knee while I scribble. So much of what I write stems from my two young daughters. It helps to write from the trenches.

This varies greatly from day to day. Usually I spend a few moments in the morning while the girls are still in bed….an hour or so during naptime…A half hour while watching TV with hubby at night. And, some days are blog free.

Techno-what? I am still bungling a bit with that one.

I said “Gesundheit!”, the first time I heard someone use the word ‘blog’. Such a weird word, isn’t it? I thought it had something to do with texting or some other teenie boppery thing. Then, I read an article about how some SAHMs make spare ….(stifling laugh here!)…cash through blogging. Still waiting for that spare cash. But, what a wonderful world I have entered.

Her Bad Mother

I am inspired everyday by my beautiful, amazing daughers and awesome husband. I also am amazed at some of the wonderfully inspiring bloggy stories out there. America’s Bloggers really got talent! (And, Canadians, Europeans etc..)

As I have a teaching background, I have written some educational articles for http://www.parentingpink.com. This is the only website geared for parenting girls.

Writing, of course, has always been cathartic for me. Add an audience, and wow, you really have some good therapy. All for free. But, really, I love having the commitment I now have to writing. I can see how my writing has improved. That is really rewarding. Additionally, to be a member of the community of lady bloggers out there in the blogosphere is such a treat. The support and friendships have been wonderful.
