To fill a creative outlet for myself, meet great friends, and learn new parenting tips

After the birth of my first son. We ended up moving away from all our friends and family when Little Dude was only 4 days old, so blogging became a way for me to find people to talk to. Blogging saved me from being really depressed and isolated in our new home and dealing with the huge change of me working full time to staying home full time. At the time I didn’t work from home, so I didn’t have that interaction in my life either to help and blogging really helped me get some adult interaction going and even helped me find mom groups to join (in real life, lol!)

Usually about parenting, my two boys, and our family. Sometimes news items. I am very passionately pro-life, so whenever I hear news about it one way or another I will usually touch on it a little. I like talking about baby gear or items that I enjoy or that work for me.

Adventures in Babywearing, Rocks in My Dryer, Casual Friday Everyday, Mom4Life, 5 Minutes for Mom, Parenting and Books, Mom Generations

Comment on other blogs, get to know other writers and NEVER leave negative comments. Just because you don’t agree with someone doesn’t mean it is time to start a fight; a blog is like someone’s journal that they are allowing us to have a look into-so you should always be respectful of other’s feelings and perspectives.

Sometimes, though I usually like chatting through email or Twitter.

Yes, which does put a bit of a restraint on the venting about my parents part, LOL! I am so glad they all read though, because we now live even further away then we did after my first son was born (we moved from NC to TN when Little Dude was born, then back to NC, then when JR was born, we moved to AL…whew!) So, my blog is a great way to keep everyone updated on the boys!

Not really, though I know I should if I want to try to boost my page rank…

In my office, usually in the mornings. Before JR was sleeping through the night I would sometimes blog during the 2 am feeding; it would keep me awake and it was a nice, peaceful time to think and write.

Hmmm….probably too much, since sometimes I wonder away from work and glance at blogs. I work doing writing and editing for real estate sites and blogs, so it is easy to stray every so often.

Actually no. I started my blog because a neighbor back home in NC had one for his family and I thought it would be great for keeping in touch with our family after we moved. He linked to a few blogs, and from those links I found Shannon at Rocks in My Dryer, and from her a whole great world of blogging moms! Now I have a nice little group of moms I love communicating with and reading about. If I searched for more to read I don’t know when I would find the time to do the laundry…lol!

My neighbor’s family had one-at the time I had no idea that there was a “blogosphere” out there!

Well, my neighbor’s family blog, but I don’t know that he would want it shared. The first “real” blog I read constantly (and still do!) was Rocks in My Dryer.

Keeping a positive attitude about everything. I guess life itself does. I run into so many people that seem so miserable and negative in life, so I do my best to keep myself and my family positive and to look at everything in a “half full” kind of way. Just enjoying silly moments with my kids and letting the laundry go keeps everything low stress and in perspective for me.

I do reveiws at Miche Reveiws at http://www.michereviews.blogspot.com.

It has really been a great outlet for me, and helped me not be as sad about the moves my husband’s job has had us do. Even though I am sad to leave physical friends behind, it is SO NICE to know that all my online pals are always here for me. They are always so full of encouragement, and I hope I can do the same for others with my blog.

Blogging also helped me get the part time job I have now. Since I had my own blog, I was able to get a job with a web design and marketing company that wanted to start selling blogs-I now optimize, write and edit for real estate blogs and get to work on real estate websites as well! Having my blog opened a whole window of opportunity to me that might have been harder to get otherwise.
