I blog because I am. (Oh, wait, that was Descartes. Sorry Descartes!) Let me just say, to have people read and react to what you have written on a daily basis is pretty darn addictive. I don’t even shop any more. Who needs 100 pair of shoes when you can blog?

I started blogging in April 2008 to get the word out about my bookMiss Delacourt Speaks Her Mind, a Jane Austen era romantic comedy. If I had only known . . .but I have no regrets! It has been great! Love it!

Ummm . .yeah! Read a smattering of blogs for a period of time before you jump into starting your own. Take it from me, a huge jumper-inner! So many things I should have known before I started . . . I would have had lot less virtual egg on my face. (Good thing I look good in egg.)

Adore it. Just ADORE it! The whole friendship and incredible support aspect of blogging was a total surprise! Chatting through comments just gives me one more opportunity to connect with my readers. It’s the best! My readers/commenters are pretty darn funny, too. Many of my commenters say that they always read every comment, what with people being so darn witty and all. They keep me on my toes.

The time I used to spend gardening, cleaning the house, reading for pleasure, shopping for shoes . . . I try to read all the blogs of those who read me. Pretty soon I’m going to have to give up eating, showering and cookie consuming but one does what one must.

The Pioneer Woman–and it was pretty much the only one I read before I started my own. I assumed it was a pretty typical blog. Can one blame me for expecting people to swarm to me like cattle to Marlborough Man?

Sure do–my “official author website” at http://www.heidiashworth.blogspot.com

Blogging has been such an eye-opener for me! I have a multiply disabled child and haven’t gotten out too much for the last decade or so. Blogging gives me a peek into the lives of others as well as people I can “talk” to. Not only that, but I have also learned how to write in the midst of chaos. What a gift!
