Interview with Christian’s Mommy from “Live Laugh Love Family”

Like most new Moms, all I wanted to do was post pictures about “the baby”, talk about “the baby”, and share everything that “the baby” was doing. So, I started the blog. Fast forward to my son’s 9 month birthday, and we learned that he was profoundly deaf. My little blog about trips to the park and mall turned into a chronicle of our journey with Christian.

Lately, I’ve been sharing the many miracles, challenges and milestones that we’ve experienced with Christian’s Cochlear Implant. I also have found that many of my readers are adult Cochlear Implant users, and I often post questions for them to answer. I feel that my blog is very honest. I’m not going to sugar coat any of my experiences or feelings just for the sake of the “story”.

If your blog is public, be careful of what personal information you post. I see so many blogs that have their kid’s full name posted—that’s just asking for some crazy internet stalker!
Also, blogging should never feel like a “chore”. Use it as your time. If should never feel like something you HAVE to do.

I think the best part of my blog are the visitor comments. I’ve met so many wonderful parents through those comments, who have become part of my support team.

Most of my blogging occurs at my kitchen table during nap time or at night.

I spend about 5 hours a week writing my blog, and about 10 hours a week catching up on blogs.

My greatest inspiration is my son. Every word and every sound that he hears is a gift. He’s taught me to not taking anything for granted.

I don’t think I would’ve been able to get through the challenges of our first year with Christian without the people that I’ve connected with through my blog. I’ve found so many great resources through other Cochlear Implant blogs, and am so grateful for all of the Moms and Dads that we’ve gotten to know.
