Interview with Fashion Paramedic from “Someone Call the Fashion Paramedic!”
“Someone Call the Fashion Paramedic!”

It’s the only way I can get attention any more. My kids and husband just ignore me these days.

I began blogging about a year ago. I was on bedrest with my 2nd child and had maxed out the credit cards with QVC. Blogging was free, so I thought I’d give it a whirl.

My posts cover a range of topics. From fashion to current events to parenting to strange human behavior — it’s all there. My family usually provides the best material, though. Like the time my son decided to announce to a crowd of people that I’d left his friends in the trunk. *I* knew he was talking about his IMAGINARY FRIENDS. But the crowd didn’t. Talk about awkward.

Oh! I’m nuts about the taboo stuff like Perez Hilton or the gossip blogs at Entertainment Weekly. I also spend a fair amout of time at Humor Blogs too.

Think before you decide to “blog naked.” I started posting pictures and using real names from the get go thinking that it was the norm, and now I’m wondering if I made a mistake. Actually, I’m more bummed that I didn’t get to make up strange nicknames for my boys like “peanut” or “monkey.”

Absolutely! I’ve met some of my favorite bloggy friends by responding to comments.

Are you kidding me? Even my 79-year-old dad reads my blog. I wouldn’t get any page hits if it weren’t for my family. (That reminds me, I owe them some money for that.)

I don’t hang out at forums — the folks that comment on my blog are enough to keep me busy!

I blog, or think about what to blog, at all hours of the day. I keep a memo pad in the car to write down ideas. I take pictures of things or people that move me to want to blog. Since I work full-time, I have the luxury of blogging while pretending to be hard at work. It’s really a win-win.

At least two hours a day, five days a week. I read feeds on the weekends, but usually save blogging for the weekdays.

I use Linkreferral to find blogs. Some of those folks are breaking their backs to get recognized, just like I did in the beginning. I visit those who visit me, and “fave” the ones I like.

Oh, I know it was a long time ago, but don’t remember the first time I actually heard about it.
I was watching “How I Met Your Mother” a couple of years ago, though, when one of the characters asked, “Don’t you read my blog?” It was then that I knew I wanted to do it.

Problogger.net. My husband bought me the book written by the site’s author (Darren Rowse).

I am most inspired by my family and their constant ability to feed my desire for new blog material. I’m not a “deep thoughts” type of person looking to be the next renaissance blogger. I like to laugh and smile and have fun in my life. If someone or something gets any one of those three attributes right, then I’m inspired. Get all three, and I’m a fan for life.

No, one is enough for me. (At least for now.)

I know that my writing has improved dramatically since I first started to blog. I’m constantly looking for ways to be a better writer. I think I’m going to take an acting or improv class this fall. Because just when I think I’ve found my niche, I read another blog and think, “Wow. I wish I could write like that!”
